To Crawl To Walk To Run is Tianru Shen’s beautiful 2d animated film. I collaborated with Shen as her background artist and created over 60 watercolour backgrounds for this project. 

- To Crawl To Walk To Run tells the story of Tiantian, a girl who grows up and slowly reconciles with the misplaced expectations of her family. The story takes place in Nanjing, a city in southern China. The main scenes include the family’s house, the river, and Tiantian’s school.  

- We chose watercolour for the background since its soft and subtle paintings matched the animation’s melancholy mood.
